Classical Music - Instrument / Vocal Bachelor
The application procedure takes place in two parts. Applicants who pass the first part will be invited to attend the entrance examination.
Part 1: Application Submission and Pre-selection
• CV in tabular form (in English or German)
• Educational certificates. If applicable, proof of previous study periods as well as completed coursework and examination achievements (in English or German).
• English B2 level
• A video link showcasing the applicant's instrumental or vocal performance, with a minimum duration of 15 minutes, featuring at least two pieces or sections of pieces (e.g., a movement from a sonata) from different epochs.
Video Requirements:
•The video must be unedited, with the applicant fully visible, including their entire body.
•The video must include a timestamp (a running clock).
Language Requirements:
Sufficient English proficiency is required for admission to all study programs at BIMA. The following documents are accepted as proof of English skills:
•An official language certificate at B2 level
or
•An IELTS certificate with an overall score of 5.5 or above
or
•A school leaving certificate showing that English was taken as a regular subject
In addition to musical and theoretical skills, the entrance examination also assesses whether the applicant’s English level is sufficient to ensure smooth progress in their studies.
Part 2: Entrance Examination
• A written and oral examination (basic theory, aural skills; for non-pianists: basic piano skills), approximately 90 minutes, conducted on-site or via video conference
• A live performance on-site or via video conference of three pieces or sections of pieces from different epochs, with a minimum duration of 20 minutes
• An oral interview (assessing the applicant’s creativity, personality, motivation, and knowledge of music history), approximately 20 minutes
The duration of the entrance examination is determined by the admissions committee.

• CV in tabular form. If applicable, a digital artistic portfolio (in English or German)
• Educational certificates (BA in Music or equivalent, with at least 180 ECTS). If applicable, proof of previous study periods as well as completed coursework and examination achievements (in English or German)
• English B2 level (equivalent to an internationally reconized high school diploma after 12 years of education.)
• A video link showcasing the applicant's instrumental or vocal performance, with a minimum duration of 15 minutes, featuring at least two pieces or sections of pieces (e.g., a movement from a sonata) from different epochs.

•The video must be unedited, with the applicant fully visible, including their entire body.
